Have you ever looked at your kitchen and wished for just one more cabinet? Maybe a pantry cabinet next to the refrigerator? Maybe a built-in desk in an unused corner? But have you always hesitated because you are afraid that new cabinets would never match the existing ones? Hesitate no longer!
We just completed a project for Mike and Krysty P. of Greenfield that involved adding new cabinets to the kitchen of their 13-year- old home. The light maple color of the existing cabinets would have been difficult to match because of natural aging, and an exact match of the arched door style is no longer available. So we installed simple, raised panel white cabinets that complement the existing cabinets. A new pantry cabinet gives the family more storage space than the closet-style pantry that was removed, and the movable island offers them space and flexibility for family gatherings and dinner-time prep. A new cabinet above the refrigerator adds more storage space and serves to bookend the kitchen with the new white pantry cabinet.
Today’s most popular kitchen designs often combine two colors of painted cabinets or a combination of painted and wood cabinets. So in addition to being a practical and cost-effective way to add cabinet space to your kitchen, it also is tres chic.
